When Mario started painting mature subjects it became very obvious that his work was unique and that his perspective was not a pretty setting developed from a field photograph. His paintings have an inner life. His subjects have something to say and do so with wonder and magic. When you look at a Fernandez, you sense that he genuinely believes that these beautiful and gentle creatures were given a very special place by our creator. He is not interested in the hunt. He is interested in their feelings and in discovering the glory that each of them brings into our lives.
